Pre-Hispanic Maya Art, Artifacts, and Antiquities
in Honduras
Close-up
photographs of the impressive sculpture of Copan reveal fascinating detail
of this monumental Classic Maya art.

The sculptors of Copan often rearranged the
features of a Tlaloc face, here reassembled in the Copan Sculpture
Museum. Much of the work in the museum itself is the accomplishment
of Barbara Fash. Additional work on installing the exhibits is by
Guatemalan archaeologist Carlos Rudy Larios, who is an internationally
known conservator, and consultant to the Getty Institute.

To get these photographs FLAAR sent a photography
crew to Honduras with a complete portable studio. With a Linhof 4x5, Wisner
4x5, several Hasselblads, Leicas, and a complete Dicomed-Better Light
digital scanning camera, Nicholas Hellmuth and Andrea David did exhaustive
photography in both museums.
This photography was aided in all aspects by IHAH
and Professor Oscar Cruz. We appreciate the assistance of the Hotel Marina
for providing a courtesy room in their annex.
