Wide format printers are now available for personal use. Instead of paying big bucks to have a service bureau do your posters, you can do them yourself. Large format inkjet printers make this possible.

ENCAD began as the market leader. Recently Encad decided to drop out of the market for graphics printers (printers which produce photo-realistic exhibit-quality display prints). Instead Encad has decided to concentrate on the market for simple signs and CAD architectural drawings (a market where Hewlett-Packard has been market leader since the development of the HP plotters).

Since FLAAR prefers the better quality printers, this month we switched from Encad to Hewlett-Packard printers. The quality of these prints is impressive.

Display prints

Best thing to do to your wide format prints is to laminate them.

American Ink Jet Corporation offers a wide variety of quality media for the ENCAD printers. At our annual Maya archaeology symposium people from across the USA as well as visitors from Germany, Mexico, and Guatemala got an opportunity to admire digital prints printed on photo glossy media from American Ink Jet Corporation.

Based on the compliments we received for the appearance of these wide format prints, we can recommend the media products of American Ink Jet Corporation.

No darkroom, no harmful photo developer chemicals! You can print your own posters in your own office.

Every museum and especially the Repro Shop or Print Shop of every college and university ought to consider entering the digital era with a Hewlett Packard printer. Be sure to decide which is the best hardware RIP, such as the Fiery from EFI (Electronics for Imaging). For more information on all this check out www.FineArtGicleePrinters.org and www.large-format-printers.org.

Hewlett Packard print Peccary (ceramic, pre-Columbian Guatemala)

The newly arrived Hewlett-Packard DesignJet 2800 CP wide format color inkjet printer. Peccary was photographed with a BetterLight large format digital camera at a new museum in Antigua. Peccary (ceramic, pre-Columbian Guatemala), is about 5 inches long. Here you can see the quality of the Hewlett-Packard print, shown at the right at tremendous enlargement. So if you need museum quality photographs try out this HP color inkjet printer.
