Inkjet and other printers for producing Masters for Screen Printing , FLAAR Fast Facts. Warns you which printers to avoid; suggests which other printers might be better. One report by Brent Cavanaugh, the other by BGSU professor Chuck Spontelli. Chuck's MS degree is from Rochester Institute of Technology. He teaches printing in the visual communications program, College of Technology, BGSU. So it helps to have the direct documentation from an experienced user of whether a particular software package works, or does not (especially when the software costs several thousand dollars). Brent Cavanaugh, lab manager, BGSU+FLAAR, Bowling Green State University. Brent has many years experience in a digital portrait studio lab before taking over the wide format printer lab at BGSU+FLAAR. He is now in charge of running two ColorSpans, Epson, Mimaki, HP 5000, Cruse scanner camera and other equipment. So if you need to know about color management tools for your wide format printer workflow, here is a good start.

Review by Jean McDonald

Wide format printers, color management tools and solutions, books on digital imaging, and other digital imaging products presented at Seybold San Francisco 2002.

FLAAR itself is still working on turning the entire web site and Reports system into a book. The e-mails you send to us alert us to which subjects you wish us to cover. Also sometimes your own experiences are so helpful they will be utilized in the eventual book itself. So it helps when we know some of our readers so we can have a dialog with them.

Most of all, your comments serve as a clear signal to the printer manufacturers and distributors that end-users are upset with misleading advertising. Thus your comments are sent to pertinent manufacturers in order to encourage them to fix the glitches, foibles, and sometimes failures of their inks and media.
Naturally everyone also likes to know what works well, such as which features of printers, RIPs, inks, and papers are appreciated.

You can write auf Deutsch, en Español, in Francaise or in Italiano; FLAAR reports themselves are in English. So now you can get two sets of information.
